If you are interested in plants and coastal habitats, come and find out how you can become part of the LIFE medCLIFFS Volunteers Network!
LIFE medCLIFFS is a nature conservation project funded by the LIFE Programme of the European Union and aims to improve the management of invasive alien plants in the habitat of community interest HCI 1240 - Mediterranean sea cliffs with endemic flora, present on the Costa Brava and Cap de Creus areas (NE Spain).
LIFE medCLIFFS has a Volunteer Network for the monitoring and surveillance of invasive alien flora affecting Mediterranean sea cliffs. Volunteers collect ecological and biological data on invasive and potentially invasive plants, which are used to model and predict the risk of invasion in priority areas, being essential to define the best strategy for action against each invasive alien plant.
We invite you to take
part in a guided botanical route along two under study transects in Calella de Palafrugell. Led by
botanical experts, you will be able to observe and learn to recognise alien
plant species, many of which have escaped from gardens. Some of them are
invasive and have or may have an impact on both biodiversity and the conservation
of the cliffs of the Costa Brava with endemic flora.
More information at www.lifemedcliffs.org or by sending an email to info.lifemedcliffs@csic.es
IMPORTANT! The activity is addressed to young people (minimum 16 years old) and adults. It will take place on rocky terrain and in full sun, so we recommend that you wear comfortable shoes with non-slip soles, light clothing with long sleeves, a cap, sun cream for the parts of the body exposed to the sun and enough water for the whole route. If you want, you can bring a small breakfast or snack.
